Spear Corps Conducts First Aid Training Capsule in Imphal East

UKHRUL: Spear Corps, under the aegis of Indian Army, conducted a one day First Aid Training Capsule at Yambem High School to equip students and school staff with essential life-saving skills and enhance preparedness during medical emergencies.

A Medical Officer from the Army Medical Corps conducted an interactive session for 85 students from Classes VI to X, along with 15 teachers and members of the School Management Committee.

The programme commenced with an informative lecture on common medical emergencies, followed by hands-on practical training. Participants were sensitised to the recognition and management of emergencies, including cardiac arrest, seizures, fractures, fainting, snakebites, dog bites, bleeding wounds and choking.

Practical demonstrations and supervised exercises on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and splinting techniques were conducted using medical equipment, enabling participants to develop practical skills and confidence in responding to emergencies. Pocket-sized first-aid reference cards were also distributed among the participants for ready reference.

To reinforce learning and encourage active participation, a quiz competition was organised at the conclusion of the programme. Winners were felicitated with stationery kits as tokens of appreciation.

The initiative reaffirms Indian Army’s commitment to community outreach, health awareness and capacity building, while promoting emergency preparedness and essential life-saving skills among the local population.
