Ukhrul, April 22: St Joseph College’s Department of Political Science today observed Earth Day at Phangrei under the theme “Invest in our Planet”. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 60 students and 4 faculty members who came together to highlight the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The day’s events included various activities such as painting, photography, and slogan writing competitions, which were organized to encourage creativity and spread awareness about the need to protect the environment. The participants showcased their artistic skills and imagination to create thought-provoking works of art that highlighted the importance of preserving our planet.

In addition to the competitions, a pledge was taken by all participants to protect the environment, conserve energy, and reduce pollution. The pledge was led by Dr. Seraphina Kamei, the Head of Department of Political Science, who emphasized the urgent need for everyone to do their part in protecting the environment.
As part of the Earth Day celebrations, the participants also collected garbage from area and disposed of it responsibly. The activity aimed to create awareness about the need to keep our surroundings clean and promote sustainable waste management practices.

Speaking about the event, Dr. Seraphina Kamei said that the Earth is not just a resource for us to exploit, but a fragile ecosystem that needs our care and attention.
