St. Joseph’s High School Chandel Organises 27th Annual Sports Meet

Chandel, April 29: St. Joseph’s High School, Chandel on Tuesday kicked off its 27th Annual Sports Meet at Liwa Sarei Ground in Chandel district as part of the school’s annual event.

Hosted by Th. Robert Monsang, Member, School Management Committee, the meet was graced by L. NandaKumar Singh IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel as chief guest, Th. Parnong Monsang, chief of Liwa Sarei village as Guest of honour and Liwa Sarei village Authority Members as special guests.

Addressing the sports meet, the deputy commissioner of Chandel said that the concept of collaborative learning can be practiced to the fullest in games and sports. The discipline and its significance is highlighted a lot in games in sports, he added.

The DC also stated that one can learn so many things from outside the classrooms and not just inside the classrooms.

Stating further that the gross ratio of Chandel in sports compared to other districts is very low, the DC called on the students of St. Joseph’s High School to take sports seriously and raise the ratio of the district.

Dressed in their house-wise colours of green, blue, red and yellow shirts with white pants for boys and white skirts for girls, the students, led by their house captains also took an oath and pledged to play a fair and just game with discipline. The students also held the March Pass with the DC of Chandel taking the salute.

The event was also declared open by the DC which was followed by a friendly match between students and their parents.

This was followed by a series of games and sports items such as football, volleyball, athletics etc wherein the students from the various houses competed against each other.

The host, Th. Robert Monsang; principal of the school, Th. Alfred Monsang and the guest of honour, Th. Parnong Monsang all encouraged the students to participate in the events with discipline and dedication while also calling for a fair and just play.

As part of the opening event, the students also showcased their other talents in the form of cultural shows and songs that enthralled the guests present and the parents.

The 2-day event will end on Wednesday at the venue wherein the overall champion will also be declared.
