Federation of Haomee (FOH) and Government of Manipur on Saturday came to an agreement to take corrective measures to improving working conditions of Ukhrul district hospital and fill the vacant seats of doctors and nurses and other shortfalls.
FOH had issued a statement on September 15 to impose indefinite bandh along Imphal-Ukhrul road from September 21 onward if the state government failed to meet their demands.
The meeting was held on Saturday evening with president FOH and office functionaries, principal secretary (Health & FW), government of Manipur, director (Health & FW), Dr Shyamjai, joint director (Health), Manipur, Dr A Probin, deputy, director of Health and Soimianlian Lengen , deputy secretary (Health).
Statement issued by FOH post the meeting said, “After careful consideration of the requirement of specialists, the Health Department assured to post five more specialist by 19th September, 2020”.
The other agreement between FOH and the state government tabled, according to FOH statement also said, “to enable a more detailed assessment of the requirement, it was mutually agreed to have a joint visit on or before 25th September, 2020 based on the joint visit, the health department assured to address the requirements of District Hospital Ukhrul in a time bound manner”.
The state government the same day evening, corresponding to the meeting, issued transfer orders for five new specialists to be posted in District Hospital Ukhrul from September 19, 2020 with immediate effect.

Other Medical Health Services officers transferred in the order vide no. 2/7/2017-M included one in Yaingangpokpi, two in Senapati, one in Jiribam, and one in Sekmai.
With this new development, the indefinite bandh for September 21 has been called off by FOH.
Mention may be made that the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (Tangkhul Youth Council), on September 13 protested in front of Ukhrul District Hospital for the negligence of the state government to improve working conditions of the district Hospitals and Public Health Care System to acceptable levels in the district.
