STNBA Headquarters Echoes with Tangkhul Cultural Splendor: A Day of Dance, Song, and Tradition

IMPHAL, JULY 19: It was a cultural bonanza, indeed, when various Tangkhul troupes and individuals congregated at the STNBA headquarters today, which is located some 42 km south-east of Imphal, and showcased cultural items.

The main features of the festival included cultural dances, cultural songs and Tangkhul traditional fashion shows.

According to the programme, it was a “state level festival of Tangkhul folk dance organized under the “Cultural function and production grant scheme”. The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Today’s programme was organized by Aze Arts and Culture Resource Centre STNBA headquarters.

The programme kicked off with a prayer in the morning.

As one of the comperes said, “Life is better when we dance,” troupes after troupes took the stage and showcased their cultural items.

One unique feature noted in today’s event was that cultural troupes and audience alike came to the festival in full Tangkhul cultural attire.

Tangkhul people of the area from all walks of life engaged in the day-long jamboree of cultural extravaganza on Friday. They gathered in bonhomie to rejoice in promoting their roots. They also came together today in the spirit of brotherhood.

Today’s event was laced with festoons and fanfare with the showcasing of tradition and culture within the most relevant context of the present society.

As it was observed, the participants made every effort to reunite with their roots despite the mad drive along the tide of the fast moving world.

An over-brimming enthusiasm of the participants was witnessed as young and old rejoiced the promotion of their tradition and culture in high spirit at the STNBA headquarters today.
