Stolen Truck from Assam Recovered in Ukhrul by Somdal Police

Ukhrul, April 29: A dumper truck reported stolen from Hojai district in Assam has been successfully recovered from the Talui area of Ukhrul district, Manipur, following a coordinated effort by the Assam Police and the Somdal Police Station team.

According to official reports, the truck, bearing registration number AS09AC5653, was stolen on March 31, 2025. On April 26, information received by the Ukhrul police from the Superintendent of Police, Hojai, indicated that the stolen vehicle had been transported toward Ukhrul and was believed to be hidden near the Talui area.

A joint search operation was launched the same day by officers from Assam Police and the Somdal Police Station. However, the initial efforts did not yield any results.

Undeterred, Inspector James Krili, Officer-in-Charge of Somdal PS, formed a special search team. On April 27, after an extensive and methodical operation, the team successfully located the stolen truck concealed deep inside a jungle near Talui. It was found that the vehicle’s batteries had been removed by the suspects.

On April 29, 2025, the Investigating Officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Ranjit from Lanka Police Station, Hojai, along with the arrested accused, Khali Uddin (26) of Hojai, arrived at Talui Outpost under Somdal PS. The recovered vehicle was officially handed over to the Assam Police in the presence of local authorities.

Authorities praised the swift and coordinated efforts of both police teams, noting that investigations into the case are ongoing.
