Students’ Educational Tour to Shirui Peak

Ukhrul, May 19: The Directorate of Education (S), Samagra Shiksha, Manipur, in collaboration with the District Administration of Ukhrul, organised an educational tour to Shirui Peak on Monday.

Under the theme “Learning With Nature – a student retreat cum educational tour,” the tour was attended by 88 students from 8 schools, comprising NSCBAV Shangshak, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Model High School, NSCBAV Thoubal, NSCBAV Imphal West, Nilapatma Higher Secondary School, Sekmai, Hundung Kazipphung High School, and KK Leishi Phant Junior High School.

The ZEO of Ukhrul, Thaimei Badan, flagged off the students’ educational tour to Shirui Hill at Bakshi Ground. “In the first place, I would like to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for bringing us all together here. The students assembled here today represent different communities from various districts of Manipur. This educational exposure tour has been made possible due to the full support and permission given by the Tourism Department under the able leadership of Worshang Hungyo (IAS), Secretary Tourism, and Pooja Elangbam (IAS), Director Tourism; Asish Das (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul; Praveen Singh (IAS), Secretary Education; Ng. Bhogendro, Director of Education; and all the Tangkhul CSOs and Shirui Village Authority. Because of their support, we have been able to organise this very programme,” stated the ZEO.

“Make it a memorable trip. Feel the pulse of the hill, enjoy the beautiful scenery, observe the clean environment, and breathe the fresh air. Let there be love in Manipur. When there is love, there will be peace. When peace prevails, there is progress and development. Let India be proud that Manipur is now a peaceful and developed state. There will be an essay and painting competition in the evening. So observe carefully the Shirui Peak and Shirui Lily, so that you can reproduce them in your essay and painting,” added Thaimei Badan.

Sixteen students, two from each participating school, competed in the essay competition, and two students from each of the eight schools participated in the painting competition.

“Shirui Lily Significance and Shirui Lily Festival” was the topic of the essay, while the painting competition’s theme was “Shirui Lily Festival.”
