UT News Service | Delhi, Aug 14: Donning the Tangkhul Luirim Kachon, Adesh Gupta, member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and the president of party’s Delhi unit, initiating Swachhata Abhiyaan along with Jai Prakash, North MCD Mayor under “Gandagi Bharat Chhodo Abhiyaan” in Delhi.
The meitei community claims it is “their Leirum Phee” is being sold and mass produced as ‘Modi gamcha’ in UP.
In a letter to the Ministry of Textiles, the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles in Manipur wrote to stop the bulk production of the ‘gamcha face mask’ in order to safeguard the interests of Manipuri weavers.
The Modi gamcha worn by the elected politicians looks like the one produced in UP.
