Suspected militants trigger blast in Manipur, no casualty

Imphal: A powerful bomb suspected to be an IED exploded at a newly constructed market-shed at Sekmai in Imphal West district early on Sunday.

According to police, there was no human casualty in the blast as the market-shed was yet to open for the business of the day.

But the impact of the blast damaged the roof of the structure, official reports said.

Immediately after the blast, a police team from Sekmai police station rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

The police recovered remnants of the blast. The Sekmai police has registered a case and initiated investigations to establish the perpetrator(s).

No militant group has so far owned up the blast till the time of filing this report.

This blast came in less than a week since the recent blast in front of a shop at Kairang under Heingang police station of Imphal East district on November 18 morning.
