SVEEP Campaign Held At Ukhrul

Ukhrul: The Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.

Ukhrul district SVEEP on Wednesday organised the SVEEP campaign in three colleges namely St Joseph college, Pettigrew college and Sentinel college. Around 1800 students participated in the SVEEP campaign held today. Surprisingly, 1000 students are yet to be registered. The students expressed willingness to participate in the enrollment process as a new applicant.

ADM/ERO of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Duna Duo emphasised the importance of registering and participating on the electoral roll. During the lively interaction with the students, he quizzed on election-related questions and distributed prizes like t-shirts and caps to the participating students.

The SVEEP team also interacts with the ELC (Electoral Literacy Club) in each college and discusses the successful conduct of the enrolment process. While at Sentinel college, a new ELC was set up and two ambassadors were appointed.

The SVEEP campaigners at today’s event are Duna Duo, ADM/ERO 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Ringshan Shaiza, SVEEP nodal officer, Ukhrul and Horniton Khodang, election supervisor, Ukhrul. 

SVEEP’s primary goal is to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make informed decisions during elections.
