Tamenglong observed International Women’s Day 2021 at Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong, under the theme “Choose to Challenge”.

The programme was organized by Self Help Group Federation (SEAT), Tamenglong in collaboration with Rainforest Club Tamenglong, One Stop Centre and Tamenglong Media Houses.

The function was graced by Armstrong Pame IAS, as Chief Guest, Dr Jenny Gonmei, Gynecologist, District Hospital Tamenglong as Guest of Honour and Fiona Goimei, Founder CATCH Ministry, Tamenglong as Resource Person.

During the programme DC Tamenglong acknowledge the efforts and sacrifices of women in the society. He talked about how government is taking initiative to uplift women and girl child in the country. He highlighted about various schemes including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme initiative in the country.

Guest of Honour spoke on women’s health, nutrition and hygiene. She stressed on the causes of various health issues prevalent and how to prevent them.

Fiona Goimei encouraged the women folks and exhorted not to get discouraged despite the hardship upon women in the society. She also shared about emotional and other social needs of women. Participants of the program were given one kg of salt each to signify the essence and savoury of women as salt in the society.
