Ukhrul: The he Tangkhul Music Forum (TMF) is set to celebrate World Music Day with a vibrant and colorful event centered around the theme “Youth as Musical Architects: Building Bridges on World Music Day” This theme underscores the significant role of youth in using music as a tool to build bridges across cultural, social, and geographical divides, free from the barriers of politics, religion, or language.

During a press conference, Augustine Luiyai Shimray, the Vice President of TMF emphasized the unifying power of music, highlighting its ability to connect people from diverse backgrounds. “Music transcends all barriers and brings people together in a way that few other things can,” Shimray stated.

The celebration will bring together youth from Ukhrul and surrounding areas for a day filled with artistic and musical activities. The event will kick off with face painting by Paint Ukhrul, cosplay, and a parade from the Ukhrul Higher Secondary School ground to the community circle.

The highlight of the evening will be a musical night featuring performances from renowned Tangkhul musicians from every corner of the region. The lineup includes notable artists such as Singrala, Weapon, Ningshang, and Yungyung, along with emerging talents like Lanlan, Songayai, and Ngareoso Chiphang. A special performance by Guru Reuben Mashangva, whose birthday coincides with World Music Day, is expected to be one of the evening’s main attractions. Known as the “King of Naga Folk Blues,” Mashangva’s music is celebrated for its deep cultural roots and evocative melodies.

Under the sub-theme “In the Pulse of the Planet,” the event will highlight how music acts as a universal language, connecting people globally and serving as a heartbeat that unites humanity. This celebration aims to honor the unique power of music to uplift, inspire, and bring together individuals from all walks of life.

“By celebrating World Music Day, we recognize the special role music plays in our lives,” Shimray remarked. “It is a source of joy, inspiration, and unity, no matter where we come from.”

As the youth of Ukhrul gather to celebrate and share their musical talents, the event promises to be a testament to the transformative power of music. It will showcase how young people, as visionary architects, use music to create a more connected and understanding world.

This World Music Day celebration is not just an event but a movement that celebrates the spirit of youth and the unifying power of music, ensuring its legacy continues to build bridges and foster global harmony.
