The Central Government’s decision to fence the Indo-Myanmar border is being strongly opposed by the Nagas. Historically, the Nagas have always moved freely across the Indo-Myanmar border despite their land being divided and placed under two separate administrations—India and Myanmar. The attempt to erect border fences in the region is being met with strong resistance by the Nagas, who view it as an infringement on their rights and freedoms.

On October 23, 2024, the Nagas in the Indo-Myanmar border area stopped the entry of a Border Survey Team that was on its way to survey the region.
