TBCA Women Union Triennial Conference Begins At Phungcham

Ukhrul: The much-awaited Triennial Conference of the Women Union of the Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) began with much spiritual fervour and warmth at historic Phungcham village in northern Ukhrul on September 29.

The conference is being held under the theme ‘Ruikakhui’ (Nurture) from September 29 to October 3, 2022. Altogether 62 Churches drawn from different corners of the Tangkhul tribes are taking part in the spiritual conference with delegates numbering as many as 2216 including pastors and other church elders.

Bringing the theme exegesis, TBCA Women Union Secretary, Tharmichon N Rungsung, traced myraid of biblical references pertaining to family and husband-wife relationship in the Christian society.

She said that as recorded in the Bible, women are being referred to as a life bearer, apart from being a homemaker. Women bear child by living up to God’s command to mankind for a fruitful life, she said.

In reference to the Bible, she appealed for a fulfilling life where there is mutual trust, love and peace between the husband and wife of each Christian family.

The opening ceremony kicked off with Phungcham Baptist Church (PBC) pastor Rev. Diamond Muivah dedicating the conference hall in the presence of TBCA President Rev. Aping Khamrang, TBCA Women Union President Ningthingla Ruivahnao and its functionaries and members of its federating units and church leaders.

Rev. Aping Khamrang ceremonially installed the officials and functionaries of the conference and invoked blessings upon them for their dedicated service throughout the event.

As part of the four-day long conference, preaching on varied topics, hymnal competition, tree plantation, spiritual counseling and other events will be held.

Located about 28 km north of Ukhrul town, Phungcham village is considered as one.of yeboldest village of Tangkhul and it is well-known for its cultural significances and heritages including the well known Tangkhul romantic story of Shimreishang & Maitonphi.
