This short yet meaningful documentary tells the inspiring story of Dailong Village in Tamenglong district, Manipur.
Recognized as a pioneering village in conservation, Dailong has led the way in protecting the environment in Tamenglong. The film traces the cultural legacy of the Rongmei Nagas and highlights the challenges, sacrifices, and collective resolve of the community to establish the first-ever community reserve forest in the region, dating back to the late 1960s.
“The core objective of this project,” says Asangle Dsong, “is to encourage communities to take ownership of forest preservation — not just through government-run wildlife sanctuaries, but through self-managed, community-owned reserve forests.”
