CHANDEL: In a solemn expression of collective grief and solidarity, the Moyon Naga Baptist Association (MYNBA) organised a mass candlelight vigil across all churches under the association on sunday to remember six Naga civilians, including a Reverend and a Pastor, who were tragically abducted and murdered in Manipur.
The vigil was held as part of a wider initiative by the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI), which had called for a simultaneous observance across all constituent conventions and local churches.
MYNBA members gathered in prayer and remembrance, lighting candles for the lives lost and for the families left behind. The gathering echoed the call for an immediate and visible expression of Christian concern and solidarity following the tragedy. The gathering stood, mourned, and prayed for the bereaved family members. This vigil is a collective appeal for peace, and a plea to the Central and State governments to take swift action and ensure that justice is delivered without delay.

The CBCNEI had urged its constituent conventions and associated members under its council to participate “prayerfully and meaningfully” in the observance. The Council comprises the Assam Baptist Convention, Arunachal Baptist Church Council, Garo Baptist Convention, Karbi Anglong Baptist Convention, Manipur Baptist Convention, and Nagaland Baptist Church Council. The vigil served not only as an act of mourning but also as a united appeal for intervention, healing, and lasting peace for all affected communities.
