CHANDEL, SEP 30: Theophany Christian Academy (TCA), Charongching, Chakpikarong Sub-Division, Chandel district, organised its first-ever Cultural Day on Wednesday at the school’s volleyball court, bringing together students, teachers, parents and community members to celebrate cultural heritage, identity and unity.
Themed “Dream, Discover, Deliver — Through Words and Culture,” the programme sought to provide students with a platform to showcase their cultural talents while fostering appreciation for diverse traditions and strengthening their connection with their roots.

The event began with a prayer offered by Chala Sumpi Shangnigam, Chaplain, TCA, and was graced by Chapa Hb. Ruwnghnem Anal, Retd. Assistant Professor, United College Chandel, as chief guest, and Chapa Ps. Sonjoy, Proprietor, CMI Flex, as Guest.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest underscored the importance of remaining connected to one’s roots. He encouraged students to preserve and embrace their cultural identity, including traditional attire and indigenous tools, which he described as important expressions of their heritage.
Chapa Khumlo Sharat Anal, principal of TCA, explained the significance of organising a Cultural Day at the school. He said exposure to diverse traditions enables students to appreciate different backgrounds while helping young learners remain connected to their cultural roots.
The programme featured a variety of cultural and literary activities, including Anal Naga traditional dance, Manipuri cultural dance, poetry recitation, storytelling, folk songs, traditional basket-making, war cries, and displays of traditional attire, ornaments and tools used by men and women.
Students and teachers participated in the programme wearing traditional outfits and also shared the stories and significance associated with their respective attire and cultural practices.
The school said the initiative was aimed at showcasing the cultural talents of its students, promoting inclusiveness and strengthening the spirit of unity among the school community.
The programme was attended by the teaching and non-teaching staff, students, pastors and parents. It concluded with a prayer offered by Hb. Warngam, former pastor.
Established in 2011 under the Department of Education of the Ministry of Anal Naga Baptist Association (ANBA), Theophany Christian Academy is a co-educational English-medium school located at Charongching village in Chakpikarong Sub-Division, Chandel district.
