Senapati: With continuous rise of Covid-19 cases detected in the state in the recent past, thermal screening of all travellers entering into Manipur has started at Entry Point, Mao Gate under Senapati district.
An order from the Health department, government of Manipur was issued for immediate resumption of the screening for all entries into Manipur state. It is reported that similar screening had already started at other entry points to Manipur state since a couple days back.
The Health director had also asked the health officials in these entry points to screen army and paramilitary personnel entering the state without fail. The step to resume the screening for Covid-19 in these entry points has reportedly taken up in view of the rising trend of daily Covid-19 tally in the state during the last few days where the state has witnessed a rise in the daily tally of Covid-19 in the last few days.

A six member team from district medical department are reportedly posted at Entry Point, Mao Gate and stated to continue till further notice is issued from the state health department. Multi-Purpose Workers, Optometrist assistant, pharmacists, Grade IV and ambulance driver are reportedly at the screening point on the first day of commencement. According to a source from Chief Medical Officer, all travellers would be screened at the entry point and if anyone is found suspicious, they would reportedly to be taken for RAT test and inform one’s relative. Anyone with related symptoms is reported to take to RAT test by the medical department posted there.
As many 263 passengers were screened till 1.30 pm on Monday who were travelling from tourist buses, wingers, trucks and other public transport vehicles. No report of positive cases were detected on the first day.
