Thoubal Police Arrests Men for Fake Indian Currency

A team of Thoubal police today conducted search operation at Keirao Wangkhum area, and seized fake Indian currency notes in Rs. 1000 denomination.

According to police information, the search operation was led by Jogcshchandra Haobijam, IPS along with joint Thoubal police teams acting on the information at about 4:30 pm. Superintendent of police, Thoubal assisted by Sachidananda Soibam, MPS. Addl. SP(OPs). Thoubal, Insp. N. Tikendra Meetei, OC CDO Thoubal, Jem. Md. Amin Khan and Hav Th. Kiran Singh of CDO ‘Thoubal after informing Control Room of Imphal East district police conducted search operation at Keirao Wangkhem area.

Thoubal police informed that during the search operation situated at Keirao Khuman Lok suspected fake Indian currency notes was hidden inside the hut. The owner of the hut Chungkham Dewan Singh (50) S/o Ch. Jugindro Singh of Keirao Wangkhem, Ngarian Chingkhong Leikai was identified and on questioning, he disclosed that some manufactured fake Indian currency notes of Rs. 1,000 hidden inside his hut and he produced the fake currency notes by opening the lock of the hut.

Police further informed, on questioning the owner, he disclosed that the packing and binding of fake currency notes were done along with one Chingakham Surchandra Singh (40) S/o Ch. Deben Singh of Keirao Wangkhem, Ngarian Chingkhong Leikai, Imphal East district.

According to police, they were arrested at 5:00 am today with seizing of the fake currency notes at 5:10 am by observing formalities. Further, they disclosed that the fake Indian currency notes were brought by one Tony of Keirao along with his nephew Arun of Waithou Thiyam Khunjao and handed over to them.
