The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raised the cash reward against five cadres of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) involved and wanted in the 21 May, 2019 Tirap killing of Arunachal Pradesh legislator for Khonsa, Tirong Aboh and 10 others who were assassinated when their convoy was ambushed near Pansumthong village close to Khonsa.
NIA had announced a reward on Maj Gen Absolon Tangkhul alias Rockwang Tangkhul alias Baba, which is now raised from Rs 2-3 lakhs to Rs 7-10 lakhs.
Those who were assassinated along with 47-year-old MLA Tirong Aboh on 21 May 2019 included his workers and close relatives Wangngoi Hakhun (35), Jalin Hakhun (33), Wangngu Hakhun (30), Gamwang Hakhun (28), all from the same family, teacher Tangro Atoa (47), PSOs Poanhang Agi (38) and Khundong Siksa (50), driver Patwang Sumpa (20), Aboh’s son Along, and nephew Matlam. Along and Matlam were 20-year-old college students, according to The Arunachal Times.
The report in TAT also said during the time of the killings, NIA in its investigation established that members of the terrorist group of NSCN-IM conspired to commit the terrorist act of killing of Tirong Aboh, MLA Khonsa and 10 others. Investigation further established that the terrorist act was a result of larger conspiracy due to opposition by MLA, Khonsa of anti-development and extortion activities of NSCN-IM in Tirap district.
The investigating agency raised cash reward for Apem, whose last known location was Tizit in Mon district of Nagaland, Absolon alias Baba and Victor in Ukhrul district of Manipur has been raised to Rs 10 lakh. Meanwhile, the cash reward for James, whose last location was lodged at Sagaing state in Myanmar and Rabi in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh has been raised to Rs 7 lakh.
