A team of police commandos of Manipur police in Kakching district seized heroin powder during a checking done on a vehicle proceeding Imphal from Moreh on NH-102. Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested with the recovery of the contraband item, the police said, in a press release on Tuesday.
The police commandos found 50 soap cases containing 714 gram of heroin powder (No.4) concealing in the fuel tank of the vehicle.
The police commando team checked the vehicle on suspicion during its routine frisking and checking along the Imphal-Moreh road at Kakching Lamkhai last night, around 7 pm, the police said.
The arrested alleged drug smugglers were identified as Thongkhopao Baite (24) from of Tengnoupal district, M Thangkhokai Haokip (30) from Moreh of same district and Seiminlal Lhungdim (27), also from Moreh.
The arrested persons along with the recovered contraband drugs were handed over to the concerned police station, the police added.
