Three Militants Arrested with Weapons in Manipur

Imphal, Mar 11: Security forces arrested three cadres of two banned underground organisations along with weapons during separate operations in the past 24 hours in Manipur.

A police report said today that two cadres of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were arrested on Monday from Wangoo Sabal under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district.

The arrested have been identified as P. Bimol Singh (39) and A. Surchandra Singh (42).

From their possession, two mobile phones and two Aadhaar cards were seized, according to the police report.

Also on Monday, security forces arrested one active member of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) from Keirao Wangkhem, Ngariyan Chingkhong under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East district.

The police identified the arrested as N. Bonbon Singh (45). The police report indicated that he was directly involved in extortion from the general public, private firms, and government officials, and transportation of arms and ammunition.

One .32 pistol with magazine and eight .32 live rounds were seized from him, the report added.
