Ukhrul: The intending candidates of Naga People’s Front 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC, solemnly pledged on January 17 in the presence of the party executives that they will support to the candidate who will receive the party ticket in the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly polls 2022 with heart and soul.

In a telephonic conversation with the three NPF intending candidates, namely, Samuel Risom, Ram Muivah and Maranchan Luikham, all confirmed their pledge.

“It is the party policy to support the candidate who gets the ticket. It’s my earnest appeal to support NPF as it is the only political party to save Christianity and motherland,” Samuel Risom, Working President NPF Central Kohima & Legal advisor to the president Central Kohima.

“Supporting to the one candidate who gets the ticket is a very beautiful culture of NPF. It’s a very good development and experience. It will be very good if people support this kind of decision. The bitter election campaign is of no use and should be discouraged,” said Ram (Ramnganing) Muivah, IAS Retired, Former Secy NEC.

Maranchan Luikham, IAS Retired told this reporter, “We need a radical change to clean up our democratic institution, corruption, nepotism, governance for accountability as these are very poor due to lots of political interference. Elect the candidate who is honest, who have strong convictions and integrity in public life. In western countries, accountability is upheld as the highest principle. Without accountability how can a nation be vibrant?”

It may be mentioned that ahead of the upcoming State general election, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, president, NPF Central Office headquarters, Kohima had appointed Samuel Risom, Working president Central NPF incharge MSU as the “Chairman of the Election Committee” on January 10.
