Imphal: Seven stolen vehicles were recovered with the arrest of three youths as Manipur police continued its crackdown on vehicle lifters.

A joint team of Bishnupur district police and special police commando unit of the district arrested the three alleged vehicle lifters, police said.

The police identified the arrested vehicle lifters as Mujib Khan, Nawaz Khan and Amom Sanamacha.

Seven bikes allegedly lifted by them were recovered, the police also said.

The police across the state have been conducting an intensified drive against vehicle lifters while strengthening the Anti-vehicle Theft Cell of Manipur police.

The state police reconstituted the cell in view of increasing cases of vehicles missing in the state, particularly in Imphal area and the cell has identified many vehicle lifting gangs, IGP (law & order) Themthing Ngasangva said recently.
