Ukhrul: Thawaijao Hungpung Young Students’ Organisation (THYSO) seized and destroyed expired goods items on Saturday at Ukhrul.

Hubert Lunghar, President of THYSO, informed this correspondent that “around 6 lakhs worth of expired goods items were seized from different shops operating at Hungpung Thingrasa to Hungpung Dungrei Junction on Saturday and the seized items were destroyed by burning in the fire.”

On March 7, 2024, THYSO had issued a circular instructing all shops opening within the jurisdiction of THYSO that is from Lungshangkong to Thingrasa to abstain from selling expired good items in their respective shop. As a follow up to this curcular, checking and frisking of expired goods items were carried out on Saturday. And the seized expired items were destroyed by the volunteers of THYSO.

THYSO has appealed the shop owners to refrain from selling any expired goods or items to the consumers. “Strict action would be initiated against any defaulters,” warned THYSO.
