THYSO joins hands with Book Culture Northeast for first ever Book Fair in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, Dec 20: Every year, events and festivals related to music, sports, films, food, education, etc. keep Ukhrul town busy. December marks the busiest as denizens prepare for Christmas with warmth and anticipation, accompanied by shopping, entertainment, and other festive expeditions in the town from all walks of life. In this hustling town this year, the 2024 festive season brings a special event for the denizens, especially for book lovers.

The ongoing first-ever book fair or ‘festival of books’ in town is organized by Book Culture Northeast in collaboration with Thawaijao Hungpung Young Students’ Organization (THYSO) and other like-minded citizens at Ukhrul Town Hall from 18th to 22nd December 2024. The inaugural ceremony of the fair was graced by Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, and Zonal Education Officer, Thaimei Badan in the presence of various student leaders, the student community, and book lovers from the town.

The primary aim of the fair is to re-inculcate the importance of reading, promote a reading culture, and foster critical thinking in the community through a diverse range of literature.

The Book Fair features thousands of titles covering genres such as Fiction, Non-Fiction, Young Adult, and Children’s Books with exciting offers [Books by Kilo, Buy Two Get One Free, and Up to 50% Discounts on select titles].

The fair will also feature interactive sessions such as storytelling with students and book reading sessions with renowned authors like Iknguira L. Shimray and Thingamphy Horam to make it engaging for book lovers.
