Village Volunteers Eastern Zone Denies Links with Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone

Ukhrul, May 14: The Village Volunteers, Eastern Zone (VVEZ), has officially clarified that it has no affiliation or association with the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (KZVVEZ). The clarification, issued on Wednesday, follows a press release issued by KZVVEZ on May 11, 2025, bearing reference number KZVV-EZ/PR-24, where it has warned members of the Meitei community against entering or crossing into their areas during the State Level Shirui Lily Festival 2025 due to be held in Ukhrul from May 20 till May 24.

VVEZ maintained that it wishes to “dispel any confusion or misinformation regarding its relationship with KZVVEZ.” The organisation reiterated that there is no connection between the two groups.

“The Village Volunteers, Eastern Zone (VVEZ) wishes to clarify that it has no affiliation, connection, or association with the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (KZVVEZ),” the statement read.

Reaffirming its commitment, the core committee of VVEZ stated that their priority remains the welfare and security of the Kuki-Zo community.

“We request the public to rely on credible sources and avoid spreading misinformation,” VVEZ added.
