Tourist Murder Case Tightens: Chargesheet Soon, Says Meghalaya DGP

Shillong, June 16: Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang today said that the ongoing investigation into the murder of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi is progressing swiftly, with crucial leads being tied up, and the case is likely to be chargesheeted within the mandated time frame.

Speaking to reporters, the DGP said that all five accused are in custody and the police are leaving no stone unturned to build a foolproof case.

“We got eight days’ custody; investigation is going on. A lot of the loose ends are being tied up, and we are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the investigation is foolproof and that we do have a very solid case. We have enough evidence. We do hope we can complete the investigation and ensure that the case is chargesheeted within the stipulated time,” she said.

On the timeline for crime scene recreation, Nongrang stated, “I cannot say with certainty, but most probably it will be done tomorrow.”

The crime scene recreation, expected to take place at a parking lot near Wei Sawdong Falls in Sohra, where Raja’s body was found, is seen as a crucial step to piece together the sequence of events that led to the brutal daylight murder.
