Transborder Indigenous People Opposes Scrapping of Free Movement Regime and Border Fencing in Naga Areas

Imphal: The Transborder Indigenous People (TIP) asserted today that it will oppose the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and border fencing in Naga areas.

TIP is an organization of the cross-border Naga community, comprising Nagas living in Myanmar and India.

According to TIP, the aim of the organization is to strengthen the family ties of the Naga people who straddle the international boundary.

Meanwhile, TIP, in its meeting in Ukhrul today, deliberated on “whatever is democratically possible to pressure both the governments of India and Myanmar not to further divide the Naga family.”

Seth Shatsang and Leiyolan Vashum are coordinators of TIP.
