According to a press statement, this decision was made after receiving a letter from the Home Department of the Government of Manipur. The letter informed the UNC that “extensive search and area domination operations, including Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), are being carried out by Security Forces in coordination with the district administration and police authorities to locate the missing persons and apprehend those responsible for the incident.” The deadline extension aims to facilitate the completion of these ongoing operations, as stated by the UNC.
