AGARTALA: Showcasing Tripura’s top-ranking performance in urban development among Northeastern states, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the upgraded Ward 43 office on Sunday in Agartala as part of a broader city-wide infrastructure push.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s rapid civic modernization efforts. “You will be happy to hear that in the implementation of AMRUT 2.0 among Northeastern and Himalayan states, our state has ranked first among small states,” he announced. “This did not happen just like that. We have emerged as the best performer state by our work”.
The newly inaugurated ward office is part of a larger vision to overhaul Agartala’s civic landscape. Reportedly, the government has spent over 162 crore rupees on water treatment projects in Usha Bazar and Panchamukh, utilizing scientific underground water extraction methods. Furthermore, a massive drive to restore the city’s lakes is underway, including the recent restoration of a water body in Ujan Abhoynagar at a cost of over three crore rupees.
“We are modernising all ward offices and transforming the city’s infrastructure,” the Chief Minister stated. He added that satellite townships are being established in three locations, and affordable housing flats are nearing completion in areas like Vivekananda Township and the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel vicinity.
