NEW DELHI (SHABD): US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump welcomed Chinese PresidentChinese President Xi Jinping Xi Jinping for a three-day state visit to the United States.
The welcome marked the first time in 11 years that a US president had greeted a foreign leader at Joint Base Andrews. The last such reception was for Pope Francis in 2015, during Barack Obama’s presidency.
Talks between Trump and Xi are expected to cover trade, technology, critical minerals and broader US-China relations. Artificial intelligence is also expected to be a key topic.

US treasury secretary Scott Bessent said an agreement had been reached to extend the trade truce through January 10. The truce had been scheduled to expire on November 10.
The visit is also expected to include a state dinner attended by prominent technology industry leaders, a White House military ceremony featuring jet flyovers and a visit to the National Archives, which houses the original Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.
