UKHRUL: India’s Roshibina Devi won the silver medal in the women’s Sanda 60kg wushu event at the Asian Games, losing 0-2 to China’s Xiaoyu Zhang in the gold medal bout.
The silver marks Roshibina’s third Asian Games medal. She won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and upgraded it to silver at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
With another silver, the Manipur-born wushu athlete has once again placed India on the Asian Games wushu podium.

Hailing from a farming family in Manipur, Roshibina competed in the women’s Sanda 60kg category. She became only the second Indian wushu athlete to win an Asian Games silver medal when she claimed the silver in Hangzhou in 2023.
Her achievements have been recognised with the Arjuna Award, one of India’s highest sporting honours, and the International Wushu Federation’s Female Wushu Athlete of the Year (Sanda) award.
Speaking after the final, Roshibina said she was happy to win India’s third medal and described it as her third Asian Games medal.
“I am very happy that this is India’s third medal. It is the third Asian Games medal. In the upcoming Games, we will prepare even harder and aim to change the colour of the medal to something better,” Roshibina was quoted saying to IANS.
