WHEN GOD REVEALED Himself to Moses, He proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Yet, He also declared that He would not leave the guilty unpunished. This picture of God—tender and holy—invites us to trust Him completely and turn away from every false source of guidance and power.
Not To Look to Mediums, Spiritists, or Fortune-Tellers
Throughout the Scripture, God warns His people not to seek mediums, spiritists, fortune-tellers, or any practice that tries to gain knowledge apart from Him (Leviticus 19:31; Deuteronomy 18:9, 14). These things may look harmless or entertaining, yet they open the heart to deception. Today they appear in the form of magic, astrology, horoscopes, and movies that make the supernatural seem innocent and fun. Behind the glitter lies the same ancient temptation—to seek control over life instead of surrendering to the Creator.
Jesus Christ Alone is Lord
Why does God take this so seriously? Because He alone is Lord. To chase after other powers is to doubt His goodness and to replace His voice with counterfeit light. The enemy loves imitation spirituality—something that feels wise, peaceful, or empowering, yet quietly pulls us away from Christ. Scripture calls this rebellion and idolatry. Saul’s life warns us that turning from God’s Word to a medium leads to ruin (1 Samuel 15:23; 1 Chronicles 10:13–14).
Our Future is Not Hidden in the Stars but Secure in the Hands of God
In a world obsessed with predicting and controlling the future, the gospel calls us to something different: trust. Our future is not written in the stars— it is held securely in the hands of Jesus. “The Lord has given us understanding,” John writes, “that we may know Him who is true… This is the true God and eternal life” (1 John 5:20).
God’s Word Protects Us From Lies
God’s Word protects us and gives us discernment to test every teaching, every feeling, and every influence. We are not called to accept ideas mindlessly but to “search the Scriptures daily to see if these things are so” (Acts 17:11).
Parents and Teachers: Guard the Hearts of Your Children
This message carries a special responsibility for parents and teachers. We must help our children recognise deception early—by filling their minds with Scripture and showing them that life with Christ is far more beautiful than any fantasy the world offers. Watch what captures their hearts. Pray with them. Teach them that the greatest power is not in spells or signs but in the name of Jesus, before whom every knee will bow (Philippians 2:9-11).
When We Have Christ, We Have Everything
If we have wandered toward forbidden paths, there is hope. We can repent, receive God’s forgiveness, and walk again in His light. Those born of God remain in His truth, and “the wicked one does not touch them” (1 John 5:18). Let us turn from curiosity about darkness and walk with confidence in Christ, whose cross has already conquered every power of evil. When we have Him, we have everything. Glory be to God.
