Two Bangladeshi Nationals Held for Attempting to Cross Border at Mawlai bypass

Shillong, July 10: In a significant operation, Meghalaya Police, acting on specific intelligence inputs from the Border Security Force (BSF),  foiled an exfiltration attempt by Bangladeshi nationals today, an official source said.

Two Bangladeshi nationals were found to be attempting to illegally cross over with the help of two Indian touts.

The incident occurred at the Mawlai bypass in Shillong, where the operational team intercepted a target vehicle, it also said.

All four individuals were detained for interrogation and further legal proceedings.

The successful operation highlights the continued synergy between the BSF and Meghalaya Police in combating trans-border crimes and thwarting illegal infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

The operation showcases the effectiveness of intelligence sharing and collaboration between security agencies in preventing illegal activities. The BSF’s precise intelligence inputs played a crucial role in the success of the operation, demonstrating the force’s commitment to safeguarding national security.

“The BSF and Meghalaya Police continue to work together to prevent illegal infiltration and smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Their joint efforts have led to several successful operations in the past, highlighting their dedication to maintaining border security,” it added.
