Two more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in Meghalaya , taking the death toll to 133 in the state on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said that 66 patients have recovered from the viral infection while 65 new cases have been detected on Wednesday.

Dr War said the recovered patients include 29 from East Khasi Hills district, 12 West Jaintia Hills district, 10 West Garo Hills district, 8 Ri Bhoi district, 2 East Garo Hills district, 2 North Garo Hills district, 2 West Khasi Hills district and 1 East Jaintia Hills district.

Of 65 fresh cases, he said 57 are from East Khasi Hills, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 1 West Garo Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.

Those tested positive also include 5 armed force/paramilitary force personnel, 8 health workers and 11 high risk contacts.

So far, the state has detected a total of 13,072 COVID-19 cases out of which 687 are active cases, 12,252 recovered and 133 deaths.

Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 429 positive cases, West Jaintia Hills 114, West Garo Hills 48, Ri Bhoi 41, South West Garo Hills 16, East Garo Hills 12, East Jaintia Hills 12, South Garo Hills 7, West Khasi Hills 5, North Garo Hills 5 and South West Khasi Hills 2.

“Till date, swab samples of 2,71,896 persons have been tested of which 2,58,824 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

There are 72,623 entrants from outside the state.
