Two NPP Councillors Join NPF in Kohima, Strengthen Regional Party

KOHIMA, JULY 17: Achumbemo Kikon, secretary general of Naga People’s Front (NPF), said that since its inception in 1963, the NPF, as a regional-centric party, has endured and continues to believe in peaceful resolution to all issues, particularly the Naga political issue.

The NPF leader was speaking in Kohima today while welcoming two councillors from National People’s Party (NPP) who joined the former. Councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu of Ward No. 19 of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and Councillor Vizokhoto George Kirha of Ward No. 14 of KMC, along with their supporters, resigned from the NPP and officially joined the NPF.

Kikon observed that the Naga people have realized the importance of having a strong regional political party to safeguard the rights and identity of the Nagas, and that this understanding has led many Naga leaders to join the NPF.

 Achumbemo Kikon expressed happiness over the decision of the two NPP councillors to join the regional force. He described it as a boost for the party, particularly for the KMC, and urged them to remain with the party unconditionally.

He further called upon the two councillors and their supporters to uphold party discipline, stating that the NPF is a disciplined party where power rests with the grassroots. 

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, who is also the Legislator-in-Charge of Kohima Division, welcomed the two new leaders to the NPF and termed their joining as a great blessing for the party. She urged all KMC councillors to work together in unity for the welfare of the people and for the overall development of the city.

MLA & Advisor to School Education Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, Kohima Division President Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, and Vice President, COB, Menuovilie Kesiezie also congratulated the two councillors and expressed hope that their joining would further strengthen the party.
