UKHRUL: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has postponed its proposed agitation against the non- functioning of the Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Old Lambulane, Imphal, following the assurance given by the Director, Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Government of Manipur.

Tribal Affairs & Hills Department director Rangnamei Rang Peter on Thursday held a meeting with a seven-member delegation of TYCM led by its president Momo Tantanga.

During the meeting, the director elaborated on the various challenges faced by the department in operationalizing the said hostel.

“After a detailed and constructive discussion, the director assured the delegation that the Tribal Girls’ Hostel at Old Lambulane, Imphal will be made functional from June, 2026 (upcoming academic session 2026–27),” TYCM said in a statement.

In view of the assurance given by the director, the TYCM has deferred its proposed agitation indefinitely. However, TYCM warned that if the government fails to materialize its assurance, the council will be compelled to intensify democratic forms of agitation at any time.
