Shillong, May 14: United Democratic Party (UDP) leader and KHADC opposition leader Titosstarwell Chyne today said the party may consider attending the meeting of the all-party committee but is maintaining a firm stand against implementation of railway projects in absence of strong and effective anti-influx mechanisms in Meghalaya.

Speaking to reporters, Chyne said, “To be part of any meeting I think the party will consider it.”

“However, we will decide as a party. We cannot decide as a president or general secretary alone regarding this issue. Whether we will be part or not in the all-party committee meeting will be decided in the upcoming meeting to be held next week,” he informed.

Further, Chyne said that his party is maintaining a firm stand against implementation of the railway projects without any mechanism to check influx into the state.

“One of the firm stands of the UDP is that till today we opposed the railway line because there is no mechanism to check influx or to control influx in the state of Meghalaya. That is why we strongly opposed the railway line,” he stated.
