UDWJA Condemns Attack on Scribe, Urges Authority to Book Culprits

Ukhrul: The Ukhrul District Working Journalists’ Association (UDWJA) extending full moral support to the family of scribe, Elangbam Rameshwar who was attacked on the morning of October 24 by some unidentified person,s strongly condemned the attack on the Thoubal Correspondent of a daily news Naharolgi Thoudang

The press statement issued on Monday stated the act of attack on Elangbam Rameshwar is viewed as an attack on “freedom of expression,” and added that such act must be condemn by every right thinking citizens.

It further urged concerned authorities to book the culprits behind the attack on the scribe, and take immediate necessary action.

UDWJA stated, “For the greater good of all, concern parties is urge to refrain from the culture of taking direct action on any working journalists over dissatisfaction with any publication of news. They are further urge to take up any issues concerning the publication of news with the concern editors first and settle the matter amicably through dialogue.”
