Ukhrul: Three juveniles were apprehended for phone theft in Ukhrul town after a major heist involving smartphones valued at approximately over 4 lakh.
The recovered items, as per OC Ukhrul Station included an iPad, a Samsung phone, an iPhone 7, a Nokia phone, an iPhone 4, and a Jawa Key. Additionally, several other devices were found: three Redmi 12 5G 8/256 GB, one Redmi 13C 5G 8/256 GB, one Redmi A3 3/64 GB, one Redmi A3 6/128 GB, three Samsung A15 5G 8/128 GB, one Vivo T2X 4/128 GB, one Vivo Y17S 4/128 GB, two Vivo Y28 4/128 GB, one Realme 12X 8/128 GB, one Realme C53 4/128 GB, two Realme C65 4/128 GB, one Realme Pad Mini 6/128 GB, one Oppo A17 4/64 GB, one Oppo A38 4/128 GB, two Oppo A3 Pro 8/256 GB, one 1+ Nord CE 2 Lite 6/128 GB, one 1+ Nord CE 3 Lite 8/256 GB, and two 1+ Nord CE 4 8/256 GB.
On July 1, 2024, around 3 a.m., three juveniles aged 17 and 16 stole 31 smartphones from “Memories Enterprises” in Phungreitang East, opposite UBC Church. The owner of Memories Enterprises filed a complaint at Ukhrul police station at 10 a.m. the same day, as per Ukhrul Police.
A General Diary (GD) entry No. 12/UKL PS/2024 UKL-PS Dated 01/07/2024 was registered based on information received about housebreaking and theft.
The stolen items included 26 smartphones from Memories Enterprises and 5 from One Peace Mobile Servicing. The stolen mobile phones were traced using their IMEI numbers with help of authority.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhrul Police Station, Inspector Chuingam Ningshen told this correspondent that his team recovered the missing phones on July 9, 2024. In addition to the smartphones, two wireless earbuds and 14 earphones were also recovered. All recovered items were returned to their rightful owners at the police station by Inspector Ningshen, he informed.
As per information available, given the nature of the the theft by the three juveniles , an amicable solution was reached between the two parties — the three juvenile and the complainant on July 9 at 5 PM. Considering the academic careers of the juveniles, no criminal case was registered against them.
Inspector Ningshen submitted a letter to the Ukhrul Mukti Project Programme Officer, requesting proper counseling and emotional support for the three juveniles to help them build good character.
