Ukhrul: Covid-19 Testing Centre Relocated to Town Hall not ADC building

For the last two consecutive days positive cases showed a downward trends in Ukhrul district reporting five on Tuesday to just three cases on Wednesday. The total active cases now stands at 94.

In view of the resumption of construction works of unfinished district hospital Ukhrul, the present Covid-19 testing centre in Ukhrul has been relocated to Town Hall Ukhrul on Thursday.

The CMO Ukhrul had earlier Wednesday informed that the present Covid-19 testing centre will be shifted to Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (ADC) Building citing resumption of hospital construction work.

Meanwhile, expressing regret for the inconvenience, chief medical officer of Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring said that the Covid-19 testing centre has been shifted to Town hall and not ADC Building.

Following weeks of increasing trends in the spread of Covid-19 infections and death cases, there is drop in daily positive cases in the district. And if these developments continues the district will slowly limp back to normalcy, though no one knows what lies ahead given the deadly nature of the virus.

The district reported just three positive cases on Wednesday while nine persons have been discharged.

The total active case has come down to 94 while cumulative positive stands at 394 of which 228 are male and 166 are female. Out of the total 94 active case in the district – 21 cases are from district isolation ward, Transit Covid Care Centre 64, Jessami isolation centre 2, Tongou village community isolation centre 3, Shangkai 3, and Maichon community isolation centre 1, according to DSO Ukhrul.

Extending support to the Covid-19 frontline health workers of the district, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, Caretaker Chairman ADC Ukhrul on Wednesday donated essential food items including potatoes, dal, vegetables, milk, egg etc to the staff of district hospital Ukhrul (DHU) who have been relentlessly performing their duties on war footing as second wave of pandemic hit the state and for all the inmates of Covid-19 isolation ward district hospital.

Meanwhile, the district magistrate Ukhrul had revoked seven (7) residences from the containment zone. They are: Residence of Wungpam Horam husband of Olympia at Seipat Zingsho tang Ukhrul; Leishon at Mayotang Ukhrul, Ramyo Athary at Phungreitang West (Zingran Hotel Building), Amit Agarwal at Viewland Ukhrul (Makhan Store), Merinah, Seipat tang Ukhrul, Thumra Ngalung at Ringui village and Wino bazar, and residence of Wungnaosui Horam at Wino bazar Ukhrul.

While two residences have been declared containment on Wednesday. They are: Residence of Sajare Choudhary husband of late Raskali Devi at Hungpung village and whole residence and compound of Shaivi Zimik at Dungrei Hungpung in Ukhrul district. The DM had also sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the two containment area and directed to initiate active surveillance of the Covid cases.
