Popularly known as Ngahui bazaar or Ngahui, Jessami, Chingai and Poi junction, concerned about the health and wellness of the villagers to combat the pandemic, Covid-19 Committee Ngahui in consultation with the village hangva (Council) organized awareness camp in collaboration with the Medical department of Ukhrul under the supervision of CMO Ukhrul led by Dr Pamreila, DMO, Ukhrul along with ten medical staff and nurses and members of Tangkhul Covid Forum Committee (TCFC) facilitated the awareness program.
Seeing the novel corona virus pandemic spreading rapidly in the state, Ngahui village being the commercial hub directly connecting Nagaland state from Manipur via Nation highway 150, is a vulnerable spot. Raphei marketing centre, Ngahui bazaar is 51 km away from Ukhrul district headquarters under Chingai Sub-division, Manipur.
Following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and protocols of state health department, around one hundred villagers attended and benefited from the awareness camp.
Dr Pamreila encouraged the villagers to always maintain social distancing, hand washing and wearing of mask. She reminded that the locals maintaining strict SOP are the first doctors in line, and the medical doctors, the second in line in the fighting of Covid-19 virus. Dr Pamreila also encouraged the awareness camp participants to improve physical activity with proper exercise, proper sleep, balanced diet and low-stress levels. Maintaining discipline, she said, is the need of the hour.
