Ukhrul logs one Covid-19 death and 11 positive cases

Ukhrul district reported two COVID-19 death on Friday taking the total death toll in the district to seven. In the last 24 hours the district logged 11 positive cases.

Kamjong district did not report any fresh Covid cases on Friday.

Meanwhile, the DM Ukhrul have declared two residences as containment zone with immediate effect while two residences have been revoked from the containment measures as all the close contacts have been retested and found negative.

On the other hand, as requested by the family of late Ngachanpam Sareo S/o Shangyei Sareo of Awungtang Ukhrul who succumbed to Covid-19 on May 21 at district hospital Ukhrul, additional deputy commissioner Ukhrul, Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei had granted permission to carry the mortal remains for burial at his native village, under the following conditions.

The permission order had directed that, the death body is to be transported from district hospital Hungpung to Awungtang, Ukhrul burial site and should be buried on Friday (21 May, 2021) with strict observations of Covid-19 protocols. It had also directed to maintain social distance of at least 3 meters and further asked the burial ground staff or persons to compulsorily wear PPE, face masks and gloves and to strictly follow SOP of Covid-19.

The order further directed not to gathered more than 20 persons during the burial and maintain hand hygiene post burial.

Till date, the district total active case stands at 74. They are 17 from District Hospital Isolation Ward, Transit Covid Care Centre 51, Jessami Isolation Centre 1, Lambui Isolation Centre 2 and Tongou Village Community Isolation Centre 3. The district cumulative positive case stand at 246 of which 140 are male and 106 are female, according to District surveillance officer, Ukhrul.

In view of the impending threat of the pandemic in the area and to prevent spread, district magistrate Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson, IAS in exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Para 12 of the Manipur Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 had sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the containment area and directed to initiate active surveillance of the Covid cases.

The two residences declared containment are of Vareiya Kasar S/o Sayai Kasar Alungtang Ukhrul and Philapam Kasar D/o Kanmi Kasar, Khamphasom tang Ukhrul.

While two residences being revoked from the containment measures are of Ngashir Kachui, Meizailung Ukhrul and Levis Kaping, Alungtang Ukhrul.
