Ukhrul Police Hand Over Two Accused Persons to Nagaland Police

Ukhrul: In connection with drug related case (GRPS C/No. 0003/24 U/S 22 (C) NDPS Act R/W 34 IPC), two persons were apprehended by Ukhrul Police on Friday and handed over to the Nagaland Police on Saturday.

The Government Railway Police Station, Dimapur, Nagaland had requested to Ukhrul Police, Manipur to arrest two persons namely Ramesh Bhandari, s/o Late Yuvraj Bhandari of Amballe Kalapahar, Kangpokpi District, Manipur and presently residing at Kazipphung Hungpung, Ukhrul District, Manipur, and Lovejoy KKS, s/o Kaphungkui KKS of Kazipphung Hungpung, Ukhrul District, Manipur in connection with the case.

Acting swiftly, the Ukhrul Police as per the instruction of Karthik Malladi (IPS), SP of Ukhrul and under the team led by Josiah Pamei (MPS), Additional SP (LO) Ukhrul and Inspector Chuingam Ningshen, OC Ukhrul PS along with a combined team of Ukhrul District Police rushed to the Tasar Farm, Ukhrul and apprehended Ramesh Bhandari at around 2 pm on March 1, 2024. Further, he was detained at Ukhrul PS lock up after observing legal formalities and after a medical checkup and proper body search.

The other accused, Lovejoy KKS was apprehended at Ukhrul PS at around 4 pm on March 1, 2024. The two, as per Police, were apprehended in connection with OC/GRPS DMR MSG Signal No. CP/DMR/GRPS/OC-W.T MSG-10/2024 dated 01/03/2024. (GD entry No. 15/UKL-PS/2024 and GD entry No. 16/UKL-PS/2024 dated 01/03/2024).

Ukhrul Police seized one mobile phone Redmi from Ramesh Bhandari. The two accused persons were handed over to UBSI L. Thungchamo Mozhui of South Police Station, Kohima, Nagaland, who have also re-seized the Redmi on 2 March 2024.

As per information made available to this correspondent by Ukhrul Police, on March 1, 2024, the Government Railway Police Station apprehended two individuals at Railway Station Dimapur Platform No. I. The two individuals were identified as Dil Maya Limbu, 32, (Female), w/o Amit Rai of Maram, Senapati District Manipur present address Medziphema and Rajina Rai, 36, (Female), w/o Raj Kumar, Pokhara Kathmandu, Nepal present address Medziphema.

As per the FIR report, from the duo, around Rs 10,440,000 worth of drugs were recovered from their possession. Accordingly, an FIR GRPS C/No. 0003/24 U/S 22 (C) NDPS Act R/W 34 IPC was registered.

In connection with the above mentioned FIR, two person namely Ramesh Bhandari and Kaphungkui KKS who were wanted in the case were apprehended by Ukhrul Police and handed over to UBSI L. Thungchamo Mozhui of South Police Station, Kohima, Nagaland on March 2, 2024 at 10:30 am.
