Ukhrul, April 17: The Additional District Magistrate has imposed a prohibitory order throughout the village jurisdictions of Shangching and Lungreiphung Tang, Ukhrul District, citing concerns over law and order.
Reports indicate a confrontation between Shangching village and Lungreiphung Tang, resulting in one death and several injuries. The incident occurred due to an ongoing land dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Ramyon RK (36), son of Ramlung RK of Shangching village. The injured include Aron RK (36), son of Ramlung RK, Joseph RK (54), son of Lt. Alungleng RK, and Peter RK (73), son of Lt. Maphangzar, all from Shangching village.
This order, issued under Sub-Section 1 of Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, prohibits any person from leaving their residence or engaging in activities that could disrupt the prevailing law and order in the scheduled area, effective from 2:30 PM on April 17, 2025, until further notice.
Polly Makan, the Additional District Magistrate of Ukhrul, issued the order based on reports from the Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul, regarding potential disturbances arising from an ongoing land dispute between Shangching Village and Lungreiphung Tang. The order noted disturbances that could lead to serious breaches of peace, endanger public tranquility, and threaten human lives and property.

The decree does not apply to government agencies tasked with maintaining law and order or providing essential services.
Individuals seeking to organize processions for events such as marriages, funerals, or other celebrations within the designated area must obtain written permission from the undersigned or the Superintendent of Police of Ukhrul District. No procession may commence until this authorization is granted in writing.
Additionally, the order has designated Dingringam Kamei, SDM/Ukhrul, as the Executive Magistrate for the entire jurisdiction of Shangching Village and Lungreiphung Tang.
