Un-authorized blocking, causing inconvenience on roads punishable offence: Imphal East Authority

The deputy commissioner of Imphal East taking cognizance of the hardships faced by the general public over inconveniences caused in the roads and highways under its jurisdiction on Tuesday issued an order to stop all un-authorized blocking and obstruction of roads under Imphal East district.

The order informing the general public read, “un-authorized blocking of National Highways, State Highways and other district roads for any purpose causing grave inconvenience to the general public as well as the vehicles plying on these roads are punishable offences under Section 8B of the National Highways Act, 1956 read with Section 283 of IPC and Section 133 of Cr.P.C. 1973.”

The order further read, “All concerned are hereby informed to refrain from indulging in any such acts failing which they shall be liable to be punished under Section 8B of the National Highways Act, 1956 read with Section 283 of IPC and Section 133 of Cr. PC, 1973.”

It is worth mentioning that Manipur state is experiencing rampant rise of un-authorised collection of money dubbed as donation from several groups across the valley districts in several points of the highways leading to the capital Imphal causing increasing concern and a tremendous inconveniences for commuters within the capital and outside the capital.
