Unclaimed dead body found at M/Ningthoupham, deposited at JNIMS morgue for identification

Senapati: A male dead body was found at M/Ningthoupham village near the M/Ningthoupham Baptist Church at around 7 am on Thursday. The dead body is suspected to be that of a non-local. U.D. case No. 1/Senapati Police Station/2022, dated 15/09/2022 under section 174 Cr.PC has been registered for further investigation.

As per information received from M/Ningthoupham villagers, the deceased resides at the village on rent as a mason/manual labour. Villagers knew him as one, Shankar but no one knows the details of the deceased.

According to a source received from the house owner, the deceased was a habitual drunkard and returned home on September 14 fully drunk. When he was about to go out in the evening at around 6 pm on Wednesday with a torch light, the house owner reportedly advised him not to go out as it was already dark. However, the ill fated deceased told the house owner that he would only go out for evening walk.

On September 15 morning when the villagers were about to receive NFSA rice from the village community hall, some villagers found the dead body below the NH-2 and had reported to Senapati Police. Senapati Police immediately rushed to the spot and found the dead body. The Police found that some bruises of fallen down from NH-2 had reportedly been found. After due legal processes had been completed, the Police picked up the dead body and had dropped to JNIMS morgue for identification.

According to a source received from Senapati Police, if the dead body is not claimed on or before September 20, the body is reported to dispose off as per law.
