Ukhrul: The United National Liberation Front (UNLF), reacting to the media statement of Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi Manipur (LNKRM) issued on Thursday has strongly condemned the assault on Wilubou Maringmei, a Liangmai Naga from Kanglatongbi, allegedly carried out by two individuals impersonating as UNLF members near Sekmai LPG Gas Plant.

The UNLF clarified that it had no involvement in the incident and reiterated its commitment to communal harmony amid the ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur.

“UNLF strongly condemns such reckless behaviour of the two rogues during these turbulent times of ethnic tension created by India’s proxy war sponsoring Kuki militants to attack and devastate Meitei community. UNLF always stands for communal harmony and peaceful co-existence between our ethnic indigenes; and never do such things which may harm peaceful co-existence among our indigenous people,” said the valley based insurgent group.

UNLF also said that there are “rogues and renegades who are under the tutelage of Indian State and their occupation army, which they advantageously use to create communal flare up and destroy the communal fabric of our people and ultimately divide Manipur.”

“We sincerely appeal to our Liangmei community particularly LNKRM to remain alert and think calmly so that together we can defeat such communal and divisive forces which are antagonistic to our society,” added the clarification issued by UNLF on Friday.
