UKHRUL: The new United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor assumed office in New Delhi on Monday, expressing optimism about deepening the India–US partnership under President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Greeting embassy staff and the public with a Namaste, the Ambassador said his mission was to advance President Trump’s priorities while strengthening ties between the world’s oldest and largest democracies. Recalling his first visit to India in 2013, he spoke of the country’s lasting impression on him and described his return as Ambassador as an honour.
He highlighted President Trump’s close relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conveyed the President’s warm wishes to the Indian people, adding that a future visit by Trump to India was hoped for. Acknowledging that partners may disagree at times, he stressed that the relationship is anchored at the highest leadership levels.

On key issues, the Ambassador said trade talks between India and the US are ongoing, with further discussions scheduled, and reaffirmed cooperation in security, counterterrorism, energy, technology, education, and health.
He also announced that India will be invited next month to join Pax Silica, a US-led initiative focused on building a secure global silicon and semiconductor supply chain.
Thanking India for the warm welcome, the Ambassador said his tenure would focus on an ambitious agenda aimed at strengthening what he called one of the most consequential partnerships of this century.
